These days, crime is on the rise and as a result, home security products & systems have become absolute must haves. Burglaries are becoming more common and you simply must safeguard the ones you love and your property, even home security tips advise this.

Fortunately, there are many different types of security systems for you to choose from. For your house, there are two; wireless and wired home alarm systems. Each system has its positives and negative, not to mention the difference in price as well. Learn more about both options below.

To start with, there is a difference in the technology found in both the wireless and hard-wired security systems. As you might be aware, wireless security systems do not need to be wired throughout the house; they can send transfer messages to the control panel through radio waves.

Home security installation is simpler and convenient with a wireless home security system when compared to wired systems simply because there is no electrical wiring involved.

Hard-wired security systems essentially operate in the same manner as a wireless system and perform the same functions, but they are much harder to install, and many times will require professional installation unless you are familiar with general carpentry work & have some electrical wiring capabilities. Because of this, installation of these systems requires much more time & can increase the cost of the system exponentially.

Matching components are involved with the wireless systems as are with wired alarms. These are items such as the control panel, detectors, cameras, alarms and touch pad. And wireless systems work by depending on radio waves that are transmitted by door contacts, windows, and motion sensors.

Use of the wireless systems is managed by putting a code into the control panel which is same for wired systems as well. The code is entered with the touch pad into the control panel; the panel will send remote signals to the remaining system which will activate the alarms.

If you look, you can find many different home alarms, wireless or wired security systems, several of which you can install yourself, but if you are looking for a do it yourself home security system, wireless is the way to go!
